Deepnet Security Launches a Secure Web Access Platform
October 31, 2011 – London, United Kingdom – Deepnet Security, a leading provider of unified multi-factor authentication and anti-phishing solutions, today announces the launch of a secure web access platform for online banking, e-trading and web shopping users.
Deepnet Security extends the reach of its corporate multi-factor authentication solutions with the launch of a new product, DualTrust, that is primarily targeted at online banking, web trading and financial institutes. DualTrust creates a secure web access platform by running a secure web browser within a hardened, lightweight virtual environment that is isolated from the user’s computer operating system.
With DualTrust for online banking, for instance, users simply connect their CryptoKey secure USB flash drives to their computers and unlock the drive with their strong password. As soon as their USB drive is unlocked, DualTrust will automatically launch an isolated, virtualized operating system and starts a securely lock-downed web browser. The browser starts at the online banking home page defined by the bank and users can only navigate to web pages authorized by the bank.
To create a dual trusted relationship between the user and the online banking site, the site can verify the user’s SSL certificate that is locked to the user’s CryptoKey drive’s hardware. Effectively, the CryptoKey drive doubles itself as the carrier of the DualTrust platform as well as the user’s security token. In addition, the CryptoKey has a built-in One-Time Password soft token, Deepnet MobileID, that enables users to further authenticate their identity to the online banking site with one-time password.
To protect users from ever-changing malware, DualTrust does not use any applications on the potentially compromised user’s host computer. The internet DNS service is disabled to prevent the man-in-the-middle and DNS attacks, and an encrypted keyboard protects users from keyloggers while entering authentication credentials and other sensitive data.
“DualTrust creates a new type of secure application for banks to implement two-factor and two-way authentication”, says Yurong Lin, CEO of the Deepnet Security. “DualTrust integrates both the bank’s web application and the user’s security token in one portable device, provides multi-layered, two-factor and two-way authentication in a simplified, seamless user experience. We see DualTrust as being the next generation online banking and web trading client application”.
The general availability of the DualTrust product is planned in January 2012.
