    Any Windows or Linux server is adequate for running DualShield Authentication Server. To support a user base of up to 1,000 users, the minimum hardware we recommend is a server machine with 4GB RAM and 10GB free disk space.
  • What are the prerequisite for installing DualShield Authentication Server on Windows?

    None. The installation package of the DualShield Authentication Platform includes all necessary software components.
  • What are the prerequisite for installing DualShield Authentication Server on Linux?

    The DualShield installer for Linux works on both GUI and command line. For GUI, X-Windows is required on the Linux server prior to installing DualShield Authentication Server.
  • Does DualShield Authentication Server require a dedicate server?

    No, DualShield Authentication Server does not require a dedicate server. It can be installed and operate on a server machine with other software applications. However, we do recommend a dedicate server or virtual server to avoid possible conflicts with other third-part applications running on the same server.

    Yes, DualShield Authentication Server supports both LDAP and Active Directory.
  • Does DualShield Authentication Server change schemas of the LDAP/AD Directory?

    No, DualShield Authentication Server is an independent server application with its own database. It does not change schemas in the LDAP/AD directory that it supports.

  • Does DualShield Authentication Server support SQL databases?

    Yes, DualShield Authentication Server uses a SQL database to keep all of its data including user accounts and credentials. The installation package of the DualShield Unified Authentication Platform includes mySQL database server.
  • Does DualShield Authentication Server support an existing SQL database server?

    Yes, DualShield Authentication Server can be configured to use an external SQL database server as its database server. Officially, MS-SQL and Oracle SQL are supported.
  • Does DualShield Authentication Server support database encryption?

    Yes, DualShield Authentication Server support both software and hardware encryption. To achieve the maximum security, the database can be encrypted by an external Hardware Security Module (HSM).
  • Does DualShield Authentication Server support database synchronisation and replication?

    Yes. As the DualShield Authentication Server uses a SQL server as its database server. The database synchronisation and replication is supported on the level of the SQL server. mySQL, MS-SQL and Oracle support synchronisation and replication.

High Availability

  • Does DualShield Authentication Platform support High Availability?

    Yes, DualShield Authentication Platform supports load balancing and failover. Customers can install as many DualShield Authentication Servers as needed in a load balancing and failover cluster to achieve high availability. An external load balancer is required.

SDK/API

  • Does the DualShield Authentication Server provide an API for customer applications?

    Yes, DualShield Authentication Server provides a set of API that enables customers to integrate it into their own applications.
  • What programming languages does the DualShield API support?

    DualShield API is RESTful, therefore any programming language that supports REST can be used for the integration with DualShield.
